bio
I was raised in Homewood, IL. It was a 'too cute for its own good' kind of town. But my parents thought it was a good enough place to raise to two kids. They were right, in a way, I got through my childhood relatively unscathed. I spent most of my youth in the forest preserve across the street from my house. I knew every trail, bend, and tree. This was my last natural outpost in suburban life.
In highschool I studied visual arts, music, and technical theatre. Through the music program I was able to travel to Beijing and Xian China in 2002. My wanderlust was sparked when I stood atop the summit of the Great Wall and saw mountains for the first time.
I first became interested in photography when my dad gave me his 1972 Canon FTb when I turned 18. I graduated from Columbia College in Chicago with a BA in film, concentrating in cinematography. I have since been a freelance Assistant Camera and Director of Photography on a diverse group of projects in Chicago.
My bug for travel has never subsided. I have driven to both coasts for work and pleasure. I have been on both sides of the Atlantic and walked in the Pacific Ocean one very cold Feburary morning. This year my work will take me to the Middle East; Dubai, Pakistan, and Turkey. I always look forward to meeting and working with new people in far off places. I invite the challenges they bring with open arms.
